Nagaland registered 152 cases under Railway acts in 2021

Dimapur, Sep. 19 (EMN): A total of 157 cases of crime were registered under Indian Railways Act and RP (UP) Act by Railway Protection force in Nagaland during 2021, showing an increase of 44.04% over 2020 (109 cases).

According to the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) report, a total of 424027 cases of crime were registered under Indian Railways Act and RP (UP) Act by Railway Protection force in the country during 2021, showing an increasing trend of 66.5% over 2020 (254636 cases).

Out of 424027 cases, 431094 persons were arrested and out of the total arrested individuals, 388052 persons were convicted.

Maharashtra registered the highest number of cases in the country with 96648 cases during 2021, followed by Gujarat with 49587 cases and Uttar Pradesh took the third spot with 43551 cases.

Nagaland state registered two cases under RP (UP) Act by the Railway Protection Force during 2021, while a total of 155 cases were registered under Indian Railways Act and out of 155 cases registered, a total of 178 persons were arrested.

A total of 151 cases were charge-sheeted, while all the 178 arrested persons were convicted under the Indian Railways Act during 2021, according to the NCRB data.

Among Northeast states, Assam registered the highest number of cases under RP (UP) Act and Indian Railways Act with 3091 cases and a total of 3162 persons were arrested by the Railway Protection Force.

Out of 3091 cases, 1763 cases were convicted and a total of 1738 persons were convicted.

Tripura registered a total of 74 cases out of which 66 persons were arrested and 30 persons were convicted, the report stated.
