Nagaland records single-day rise of 20 new Covid-19 cases, no deaths

Dimapur, Oct. 5 (EMN): Nagaland recorded a single-day rise of 20 new Covid-19 cases on Tuesday, taking the tally to 31,342 and active caseload to 314.

The state’s cumulative recoveries increased to 29,358 with recuperation of 18 more patients in the last 24 hours, while the death toll remained unchanged at 651 with no fresh fatalities.

According to an update from the department of Health and Family Welfare, 10 positive cases were reported in Kohima, eight in Dimapur and one each in Phek and Wokha.

Of the 18 new recoveries, nine were in Kohima, five in Dimapur, and two each in Kiphire and Mokokchung.

Nagaland currently has 314 active Covid-19 cases, out of which 234 are asymptomatic, 60 mild, five moderate on oxygen, nine severe on oxygen, two in ICU without ventilator, and four in ICU on ventilator.

In regard to district-wise distribution of active Covid-19 cases, Dimapur has the highest number with 177, followed by Kohima with 64, 35 in Mokokchung, 16 in Phek, six in Kiphire, five in Wokha, four in Tuensang, three in Mon and two each in Peren and Longleng, while Zunheboto is currently Covid-free.

India logs 18346 new cases

India reported 18,346 new coronavirus infections on Tuesday, taking the total tally of Covid-19 cases to 3,38,53,048, according to data from Union Health Ministry.
It said the death toll climbed to 4,49,260 with 263 fresh fatalities.
Meanwhile, the active cases declined to 2,52,902, with the recovery of 29,639 patients in the last 24 hours, and the cumulative recoveries rose to 3,31,50,886.
It stated that with the administration of 72, 51,419 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s Covid-19 vaccination coverage crossed 91 crore (91,54,65,826).
