Nagaland records 9 new cases; 1.41 lakh infections in India

Dimapur, Jan. 8 (EMN): Nagaland recorded a single-day rise of nine Covid-19 cases on Saturday, taking the tally to 32, 264, while the death toll remained unchanged at 687 with no fresh fatalities.
The state’s cumulative recoveries have increased to 30,401 and the active caseload declined to 79 with recuperation of 11 patients in Dimapur during the past 24 hours.
An update from the department of Health and Family Welfare informed that eight positive cases were reported in Dimapur and one in Mokokchung.
Of the 79 active cases in the state, 67 are asymptomatic, 11 mild, and one severe on oxygen.
In terms of distribution of active cases, Dimapur has 74 infections, two each in Kohima and Mokokchung, and one in Tuensang while the rest of the districts are currently Covid-free.
India’s Omicron cases rise 3071
India saw a single-day rise of 1,41,986 new coronavirus cases, raising the tally to 3,53,68,372, which includes 3,071 cases of Omicron variant reported across 27 states and union territories so far, the Union Health Ministry said on Saturday.
The death toll has climbed to 4,83,463 with 285 fresh fatalities, it stated.
Meanwhile, 40,895 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours and the cumulative tally of recovered patients now stands at 3,44,12,740.
With the administration of more than 90 lakh doses (90,59,360) vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s Covid-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 150.61 crore (150,61,92,903).
