Nagaland records 86 new Covid-19 cases; more than 2.47 lakh in India

Dimapur, Jan. 13 (EMN): Nagaland recorded a single-day rise of 86 Covid-19 positive cases on Thursday, taking the state’s Covid tally to 32, 616 and active caseload to 287.

The state’s cumulative recoveries increased to 30,456 with the recovery of 17 patients in the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, the death toll remained unchanged at 687 with no fresh fatalities reported on Thursday.

According to data provided by the department of Health and Family Welfare, 77 positive cases were reported in Dimapur, six in Kohima and three in Peren. It added that 17 patients from Dimapur had recuperated.

Out of the 287 active cases in the state, 265 are asymptomatic, 20 mild, one moderate on oxygen and one severe on oxygen.

In terms of distribution of active cases, Dimapur has 241 cases, 24 in Kohima, 14 in Tuensang, five in Mokokchung and three in Peren, while the rest of the dictricts are currently Covid-free. 

India’s active cases cross 11 lakh

India logged 2,47,417 new coronavirus infections, taking the tally of Covid-19 cases to 3,63,17,927 and active caseload to 11,17,531, according to data from the Union Health Ministry.

The country saw a single-day jump of 620 cases of the Omicron variant, the highest so far, taking the total tally of such cases to 5,488, out of which 2,162 people have recovered or migrated so far.

The death toll rose to 4,85,035 with 380 new fatalities.

Meanwhile, 84,825 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours and the cumulative tally of recovered patients is now at 3,47,15,361.

With the administration of over 76 lakh doses (76,32,024) vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s Covid-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 154.61 crore (1,54,61,39,465).
