Nagaland records 79 new Covid-19 cases, 2 deaths in one day

Dimapur, Aug. 17 (EMN): Nagaland recorded 79 new Covid-19 positive cases on Tuesday, taking the state’s tally to 29,274 and active caseload to 1,088.
The state’s death toll increased to 593 after two more fatalities were reported in the last 24 hours, while the total recoveries rose to 26,738 with the recovery of 137 patients.
The Health and Family Welfare Department updated that out of the 79 new positive cases detected on Tuesday, Dimapur accounted for 50 cases, 15 in Mokokchung, 11 in Kohima, and one each in Longleng, Peren and Wokha.
On Tuesday, 48 patients recovered from Dimapur, 28 in Kohima, 19 in Peren, 18 in Wokha, 12 in Mokokchung, 11 in Tuensang, and one in Mon.
Nagaland currently has 1,088 active Covid-19 cases, out of which 854 are asymptomatic, 183 mild, 24 moderate on oxygen, 13 severe on oxygen, 10 in ICU without ventilator, and four in ICU on ventilator.
In regard to the district-wise distribution of active Covid-19 cases, Dimapur tops with 439 patients, followed by Kohima with 254, 226 in Mokokchung, 44 in Zunheboto, 25 each in Wokha and Tuensang, 21 in Peren, 20 in Longleng, 19 in Mon, and 15 in Kiphire, while Phek is currently Covid-free.
25166 new cases in India
India reported 25,166 new Covid-19 cases on Tuesday, taking the tally to 3,22,50,679, according to data from the Union Health Ministry.
The death toll climbed to 4,32,079 cases with 437 fatalities reported in the last 24 hours.
India crossed 55 crore in vaccination coverage with 55,47,30,609 vaccine doses administered through 62,12,108 sessions.
It said that 3,14,48,754 people had already recovered from Covid-19 while 36,830 patients recovered in the last 24 hours. The country’s active caseload has decreased to 3,69,846, the lowest in 146 days.
