Nagaland records 55 new Covid-19 cases; active caseload pushed to 727
Three positive patients – two in Phek and one in Tuensang – recovered in the last 24 hours

Dimapur, April 16 (EMN): As many as 55 new Covid-19 infections were detected in Nagaland on Monday, pushing the number of active cases to 727.
The minister of Health and Family Welfare, S Pangnyu Phom, updated that 38 new Covid-19 cases were reported in Dimapur, nine in Kohima, three each in Mokokchung and Mon, and one each in Kiphire and Longleng.
He added that three positive patients – two in Phek and one in Tuensang – recovered in the last 24 hours.
Out of the active cases, 635 are asymptomatic, 67 mild, 11 moderate on oxygen, 11 severe on oxygen and two critical (ICU) on ventilator. In terms of district-wise distribution of active cases, Dimapur has 544, Kohima – 147, Mokokchung – 17, Phek – 8, Longleng – 5, Mon – 3 and one each in Kiphire, Peren and Wokha.
The state has registered 13238 Covid-19 cases, 12135 recoveries and 88 deaths so far.
India sees record new cases, deaths
Meanwhile, India recorded 3,52,991 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, pushing the country’s active caseload to 28,13,658 and tally to 1,73,13,163, according to data provided by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
The country also witnessed a record single-day fatality on Monday by registering 2,812 deaths, taking the death toll to 1,95,123 at 1.13% mortality rate. A total of 2,19,272 patients also recovered in the last 24 hours, pushing the cumulative recoveries 1,43,04,382 at 82.62% recovery rate.
In terms of vaccination, 14,19,11,223 vaccine doses have been administered across the country through 20,44,954 sessions, as per the provisional report till 7 am on Monday.
