Nagaland records 5 new Covid-19 cases; surge continues in India

Five new cases of Covid-19 were reported in Nagaland on Thursday, taking the state’s active caseload to 147 and tally to 12381.

The minister of Health and Family Welfare, S Pangnyu Phom, informed through an update that five Covid-19 positive cases were detected in Dimapur in the last 24 hours.

According to the information provided by the Health department, the state has recorded 11984 recoveries and 82 deaths so far.

In regard to district-wise distribution of active Covid-19 cases, Kohima has 127 cases, 14 in Dimapur and two in Tuensang, while the remaining districts are Covid-free.

Surge continues in India

India’s daily cases continue to rise as 1,26,789 new Covid-19 cases and 685 deaths were registered in the last 24 hours, pushing the country’s tally to 1,29,28,574, informed Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

10 states account for 84.21% of the new cases reported in the country, with Maharashtra reporting highest daily new cases at 59,907, followed by Chhattisgarh with 10,310 and Karnataka with 6,976.

India’s active caseload has reached 9,10,319 while 59,258 recoveries were registered in the last 24 hours, taking the cumulative recoveries to 1,18,51,393 at 91.67% recovery rate.

The update from Health ministry went on to inform that 9,01,98,673 (about 9.01 crore) vaccine doses have been administered through 13,77,304 sessions, as per the provisional report till 7 am on Thursday. The number of vaccine doses administered in the last 24 hours was 29,79,292.
