Nagaland records 3 deaths, 15 Covid cases last week

Dimapur, Feb. 20 (EMN): After reporting no deaths due to Covid-19 for a month, Nagaland saw three fatalities in the past week ending February 19, taking the toll in the state to 81.

The weekly bulletin issued by the department of Health and Family Welfare informed that 15 samples returned positive for Covid-19 out of 1,176 samples tested in the past week.

“Hypertension and diabetes are the most commonly associated comorbidities among the

deaths,” it said, adding that ‘the positivity rate among symptomatic/ pre-op screening/Self-test/ travel purposes coming to Flu clinics continue to remain high at 16%’.

“Positivity rate among household contacts continue to remain high at 29%, followed by government employees at 24% and students at 19%,” according to the bulletin.

A total of 35,098 contacts have been traced by surveillance teams across all districts and the most affected age group is 21-30 years at 26%, followed by 31-40 years at 25%, and 60% of the affected are males, informed the update. “The uncontrolled spread among the age group of 21-40 years is increasing risk in the higher age groups,” it added.
