Nagaland records 12 new COVID-19 cases; free precautionary vaccine announced

Dimapur, July 14 (EMN): The number of COVID-19 active cases in Nagaland has increased to 52 with 12 fresh infections detected on Thursday and the death toll rose to 759 following one more death.

According to the update from the department of Health and Family Welfare, nine fresh cases were reported from Kohima, two from Dimapur and one from Mokokchung in the past 24 hours, taking the total number of cases in the state to 35,578.

The lone COVID death was reported from Dimapur. One recovery was also registered in the past 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries to 33,267,

Out of the 52 active cases, 34 are asymptomatic, 16 mild, one in ICU without ventilator, and one in ICU on ventilator. Five persons are currently admitted in COVID hospital and 47 are under home isolation.

In terms of district-wise distribution of active cases, Dimapur has 23 cases, Kohima 16, five each in Mokokchung and Peren, and three in Longleng.

Free COVID precautionary dose

Meanwhile, the State Immunization Officer, Ritu Thurr, has requested the chief medical officers of all the districts to open government CVCs to ensure that all 18-59 age groups (eligible beneficiaries), who have crossed six months from their 2nd dose date, avail free precautionary dose as directed by Ministry of family Welfare.

The exercise will begin on July 15 and continue for 75 days to mark the 75 years of Azadi Mahotsav, it stated.
