Dimapur, July 21(EMN): Nagaland Governor RN Ravi expressed shock at the sudden demise of Madhya Pradesh Governor Lalji Tandon on Tuesday.
“In his death the country has lost a dedicated and sincere public leader,” Ravi stated, adding that “Late Shri Lalji Tandon had served the country in various capacities in public life including as MLA, MP (Lok Sabha), Governor of Bihar and Madhya Pradesh. His enormous contributions to the nation will be remembered forever.”
He also conveyed his deepest condolences to the bereaved family members and the “strength and fortitude” to bear with the loss.
Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio also condoled the death of Madhya Pradesh Governor.
“I am deeply grieved to learn of the demise of Shri. Lalji Tandon (12th April 1935- 21st July 2020) Hon’ble Governor of Madhya Pradesh, and a senior member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after a prolonged illness on 21 July 2020,” CM’s condolence message read.
“Late Lalji Tandon, son of Sh. Shivnarayan Tandon and Annpurna Devi was born in Chowk village, Lucknow. He entered politics in 1978 and had a long and diverse career, serving in various capacities. He served several terms as a member of the Uttar Pradesh Vidhan Sabha, including as a minister of state in various departments and as a Member of Parliament during the 15th Lok Sabha in 2009. In 2018, he was appointed as the 28th Governor of Bihar and in 2019 as the 22nd Governor of Madhya Pradesh,” it added.
“His demise is an immense loss to the nation, He was a leader who dedicated the major part of his life to the service of the nation and its bright future. My family and I, express our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members in this hour of grief,” Rio wrote. “May his departed soul rest in eternal peace,” he added.
