Nagaland quartet powers India to gold at Sepaktakraw championship
DIMAPUR — The Indian women’s sepaktakraw team clinched two gold medals at the recently concluded 5th South Asian Sepaktakraw Championship in Kathmandu, Nepal.
According to an update, the Nagaland quartet of Menenu, Seyiekhrieno, Sezovelu and Rukuvinu led India’s golden run, with Menenu and Seyiekhrieno winning two gold medals each, while Sezovelu and Rukuvinu claimed one gold medal each.
Holshe Khrieo, who coached the Indian women’s team, is also from Nagaland.
Following the win, Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio took to X (formerly Twitter) to congratulate the team.
“I congratulate the Indian women’s team on winning 2 Gold Medals at the 5th South Asian Sepaktakraw Championships, Kathmandu. It’s a proud moment for Nagaland to have 4 athletes and a coach in the team. Their remarkable success inspire us, and have made Nagaland and India proud,” he wrote.
