Dimapur, Sep. 16 (EMN): Office of the chief medical officer (CMO), Mon, in collaboration with the Mon unit of Indian Red Cross Society launched the ‘Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan’ at Mon District Hospital on September 15. The event was sponsored by 27th Assam Rifle, Mon.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Tinenlo James Katiwa, DTO of Mon (NTEP), stated that the Prime Minister has set an ambitious goal of making India TB-free by 2025, five years ahead of the global target and informed that the programme is strongly moving forward to achieve the target in the country, an update from the CMO’s office stated.
“It is towards achieving this ambitious target that we have been giving nutritional support to the TB patient sunder the Ni-Kshay Poshan scheme, but it is not enough,” said Tinenlo. With a total of 457 registered TB patients in Mon district, he requested the public to contribute nutrition to any TB patient.
Short speeches were delivered by NgamtoKonyak from Indian Red Cross Society, Mon unit, and Col. Santosh Rawat, commandant of 27 Assam Rifles.
The programme concluded with distribution of nutrition to the TB patients.
