Nagaland police rescues abducted businessman in Dimapur
DIMAPUR — Police personnel from South PS Kohima and Dimapur rescued a businessman, who was allegedly abducted by some unknown persons in Dimapur last month, in a joint operation on November 2.
An update from the office of the Superintendent of Police, Kohima, informed that the victim was rescued by the combined team from Dimapur town and further investigation is in progress.
Giving details about the incident, it said the South Police Station received an FIR on October 29 in connection with a person named Anil Choudhary being abducted on October 26 by unknown individuals.
“In this regard, a case was registered and during the preliminary investigation, it could be ascertained that the victim proceeded to Dimapur on 26/10/2023 after being contacted by certain individuals from a Naga Political Group for settlement of a monetary issue originating from a close relative of the victim defaulting on a loaned amount and absconding thereafter,” read the press release.
It added that the victim was subsequently rescued from Dimapur town, four days after receiving the complaint.
The Kohima Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), on Friday, condemned the alleged kidnapping of its members. It also urged the law enforcement agency to book the culprit and release the victim immediately.
