3,377 candidates vie for 144 posts across Dimapur, Chümoukedima and Niuland

DIMAPUR — As part of the statewide Nagaland Police Open Recruitment Rally 2026, a total of 3,377 candidates will compete for 144 police constable posts allocated for Dimapur, Chümoukedima and Niuland districts, with the rally set to begin on January 7.
Briefing the media, Commissioner of Police (CP) Dimapur Aotula T Imchen said the rally will be conducted from January 7 to the 13th, excluding Sunday, at the Nagaland Armed Police Training Centre (NAPTC), Police Complex, Chümoukedima.
According to the CP, the 144 posts allocated to the three districts include 127 male and 17 female vacancies. As per an addendum issued on November 6, 2025, the posts have been distributed among 14 Naga tribes.
The recruitment process is being overseen by a six-member District Level Screening Committee headed by the CP Dimapur as presiding officer, with the DCP Traffic as member secretary, three other police officers and representatives from the district administration. Imchen said the selection process would be conducted in a transparent, fair and rule-based manner.

Owing to the large number of applicants, documentation verification was carried out on January 5 and 6. The physical recruitment rally will commence on January 7, with female candidates from all tribes reporting in the first shift at 6 am.
The selection process includes physical standard measurements covering height, weight and chest, medical screening, and a Physical Efficiency Test comprising running, pull-ups, high jump and long jump. Disqualification will be done at each stage, with candidates informed of the reasons for rejection and required to sign their scorecards.

Representatives from civil society organisations of Dimapur, Chümoukedima and Niuland will also be present during the recruitment process.
Candidates qualifying in the physical tests will appear for a written examination in a 1:10 ratio, followed by an interview in a 1:3 ratio, after which the final merit list will be prepared.
Imchen said strict discipline and safety measures would be enforced, including medical and emergency services, crowd management, separate arrangements for male and female candidates, and a ban on mobile phones and electronic gadgets inside the recruitment venue. Any malpractice, impersonation or attempt to influence the process would result in immediate disqualification, she added.
Candidates have been advised to adhere strictly to the tribe-wise and roll number-wise reporting schedule, carry their admit cards and valid identity documents, and follow official instructions. The public and media were urged not to rely on rumours and to seek information only from official sources.
The CP said the Nagaland Police and the state government remain committed to selecting physically fit, mentally alert and disciplined youth, and expressed hope for the smooth and peaceful conduct of the recruitment rally.
