Nagaland Police launch online platform for stolen vehicle, mobile phone complaints

DIMAPUR —  To enhance efficiency and expedite the recovery of stolen goods, the Nagaland Police have launched a new online platform for reporting stolen vehicles and lost or stolen mobile phones.

In an update on Monday, the police department stated that complaints that are promptly filed online would enable faster response times and ensure proper supervision of such cases.

It also highlighted the prevalence of stolen goods being resold, often unknowingly to buyers, and announced plans to create a searchable database.

This database, accessible to the public, will contain information about reported stolen items, empowering potential buyers to verify the legitimacy of second-hand goods before making a purchase. This feature is expected to act as a deterrent to theft, it said.

While encouraging the use of the online platform, the police department clarified that physical complaints filed at police stations would still be required for insurance claims.
