DIMAPUR — Deputy Chief Minister, Y Patton, who is also the minister of Home, inaugurated a VVIP guest house of the Police department in Chümoukedima on Friday in the presence of the Director General of Police (DGP), Rupin Sharma.

The VVIP guest was constructed at a cost of INR 7, 37,41,000 crore with an elevator facility for people with disability.

Presenting the technical report, the executive engineer of Police Engineering Project (PEP), Hutoshe, informed that the VVIP guest house was constructed at a plinth area of 23067 Sq.ft which commenced on February 27, 2019, and completed in August 2023 with funding from State Plan 2019-20 to 2022-23.

The VVIP guest house has 12 bedrooms including two VVIP suite rooms with self-pantry, three VIP suite rooms, and seven normal suites. It also has a mini conference hall, one barrack for security, one common kitchen, common dining and three store rooms.

The guest house has two elevator facilities-one for VVIP and people with disability and one for service.

Patton has congratulated the Nagaland DGP and all ranks and files of the Police department particularly the SP of Chümoukedima for ensuring the timely completion of the VVIP guest house.

He described it as a milestone achievement in their commitment towards transparency, sincerity and upholding the infrastructural development in the state.

“This VVIP guest house is especially meant for accommodation of VVIP coming from outside the state. It is a proud moment for the state in general and the Police department, in particular, to have availed of this facility after a long period of time. Over the years the conditions of our state have been in a bad shape as we do not have state-of-the-art facilities to accommodate prominent personalities coming from outside the state,” Patton said.

While acknowledging that recently the state has been witnessing the tremendous inauguration of infrastructural developments in the department, he has credited the patronage of the Ministry of Home Affairs, government of India, and the relentless efforts of the state chief minister, Neiphiu Rio, for his dedication and foresight in bringing about landmark changes and infrastructural development in Nagaland.

“We are highly grateful to Ministry of Home Affairs for providing required funding for the construction of all these infrastructures in the state and to the chief minister, Neiphiu Rio, for having utmost concern to uplift the state in all aspects,” he added.

With the inauguration of the VVIP Guest House, Patton expressed optimism that people from all walks of life would avail the facilities with great comfort and satisfaction.

He also appealed to all the individuals in charge to maintain hospitality and to make comfortable stay for the guests and also dispense their responsibilities with dedication.

Patton further called upon the public of Chümoukedima to cooperate with the concerned authority to ensure a peaceful environment and to usher in more developments.

Patton was accompanied by BJP legislators including Bashangmongba Chang, H Sethrongkyu Sangtam, Kropol Vitsu, Kazheto Kinimi, Imkong L Imchen and Jacob Zhimomi.
