The Nagaland Pencak Silat Team for the All India University Games 2024.

DIMAPUR — A Pencak Silat team comprising eight college students from Nagaland will be representing the state at the All India University Games, at Amritsar, Punjab, scheduled from January 25 to the 27th.

The team which includes students from Livingstone Foundation International College, Tetso College, Dimapu Government College, Salesian College and Pranabananda Women’s College were trained under the Nagaland Pencak Silat Association and will be led by team manager Dr. Harish Kumar Tiwari, Sports Director, Nagaland University.

According to an update, the team members are Kevin, Avikali V. Sheqi, Puloka Achumi, Liike Kibami, Kitenlo K. Thono, Edwina Lhinghoithem Hanghal, Mercy Singh and Hatneinem Khongsai.

A see-off ceremony was held at Immanuel Hall in Dimapur’s Signal Basti, where the president of Nagaland Pencak Silat Association, Khevishe Sema encouraged the athletes. Stating that it is a moment filled with pride and anticipation to represent Nagaland for the first time in a Pencak Silat event, he expressed gratitude to the Nagaland University for sponsoring the team and giving privilege to the college going students of the state, the update stated.
