Nagaland: Patton inaugurates bridge over Doyang River
Dimapur, May 13 (EMN): The deputy chief minister, Y Patton, inaugurated a RCC bridge over Doyang River connecting Shena Old village in Zunheboto district and N Longidang village in Wokha district on May 13 in the presence of advisor of PWD (R&B), H Chuba Chang, and MLA Picto Shohe.
Speaking at the inaugural programme, Patton informed that the idea of building the bridge was conceived way back in 2014 during a community fishing, where he shared the very idea with Picto, an update from deputy CMO media cell stated. It added that Patton laid the foundation in 2017.
Patton also stated that the new road connectivity would cut the distance and ease the burden of the people. He added that the road, which connects up to Kiphire district, would economically beneficial for the people.
Patton urged the users of the bridge particularly the adjoining villages to utilise it for economic activities and not for illegal activities. He also congratulated the contractor for the speedy completion and thanked the people of Shena Old and N Longidang villages for extending logistic supports to the contractor and the department for timely completion.
Also speaking on the occasion, Chuba Chang urged the people of both sides to help each other in times of need and use the government property with care as their own.
Meanwhile, Picto has thanked the deputy chief minister for his concern for the people on both sides.
Kahuli Sema, Engineer-in-Chief of NPWD, gave an introduction and presented brief report of the project.
Rev. Tokishe Awomi, pastor of Shena Old Baptist Church, said the dedicatory prayer, while Echungthung Ngullie, pastor of Longidang Baptist Church, pronounced the benediction.
Earlier in the morning, Patton inaugurated a village gate in N Longidang village in the presence of district administration and police officials, members from village council, VDB, GBs, village elders and party workers.
