Nagaland OSC assisted 642 women till September 2021

Dimapur, Feb.13 (EMN): Nagaland One Stop Centre (OSC) has so far assisted a total of 642 women as on September 9, 2021, out of which 112 women were assisted within a year from April 1 to September 30.

This was stated by the Minister for Women and Child Development, Smriti Zubin Irani, in a written reply in Lok Sabha on February 11.

The Government of India has been implementing One Stop Centre (OSC) scheme from April 1, 2015. OSCs provide a range of integrated services under one roof including police facilitation, medical aid, legal aid and counselling, psycho-social counselling and temporary shelter to women affected by violence or in distress.

In terms of Northeast states, Assam has the highest number of women assisted by OSCs with 6029 women affected by violence or in distress; followed by Meghalaya with 987, Arunachal Pradesh with 658, Nagaland with 642, Sikkim with 527, Mizoram with 495, Manipur with 403 and Tripura with 154.

So far, the OSCs have assisted more than 4.5 lakh women as on September 30, 2021 while 733 OSCs have been approved for 730 districts across the country, out of which 704 OSCs have been operationalised in 35 states/ UTs.

As per the scheme’s guidelines, district/ state authorities are mandated for monitoring, coordinating and mid-course correction for effective implementation of the scheme.
