Nagaland: Organisations condole Hewoto’s demise

Dimapur, Sep. 30 (EMN): Political parties, civil society organisations and others have conveyed condolences over the demise of former Nagaland minister, Y Hewoto Awomi, who passed away on September 28 in Dimapur.

Naga Hoho: Naga Hoho in a condolence message said late Hewoto was “a gentle and generous public servant who dedicated his whole life for the service of the people in general and Dimapur in particular.” Naga Hoho also stated that Hewoto was a man with determination and dedication; he was humble and a man of integrity and his good-will public services will always be cherished by one and all. “In his death, Sumis in particular and the Nagas in general have lost an eminent leader both in political and social arena,” it stated.

NDPP: The Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP), in a condolence message, stated that as a politician, late Hewoto devoted his career in the service of the people having successfully contested twice from the 2-Dimapur-II Assembly Constituency and 4-Ghaspani-I Assembly Constituency. “As an active member of the NDPP, late Hewoto took up all responsibilities bestowed upon him with dedication and enthusiasm. In his demise, not just the Sümis but also the NDPP family has a great leader whose service and devotion will be missed dearly,” it stated.

CPO: Chakhroma Public Organisation (CPO) in a condolence message stated that late Hewoto served the people in good faith as a simple and honest leader. “He was among the few who served with a noble cause to bring about equality, prosperity and unity,” it stated.

DCCI: The Dimapur Chamber of Commerce & Industry in its condolence message described late Hewoto as a down-to-earth leader who was very popular with the grassroots people and always worked for their welfare. A former member of the Dimapur Town Committee, he was also well known among the business and trading community and was a mentor of the DCCI. “Late Hewoto is also father of our DCCI member H Hokugha. In his death, the DCCI and business community of Dimapur have lost a mentor, a patron and a source of inspiration,” it stated.

NDPP 5 Ghaspani-II: The NDPP 5 Ghaspani-II A/C together with Zhaleo Rio, Advisor, Sericulture, Excise & Minority Affairs, have condoled the demise of former minister Y Hewoto Awomi. “A humble and true leader, he served Nagas in different capacities throughout his days and even during his stint as a parliamentarian. His simple principle of working for the uplift of common man is an example where he never failed to deliver the goods and he is respected by everyone for his sense of service towards mankind,” stated NDPP 5 Ghaspani-II in a condolence message.

NSCN/GPRN (Akato Chophi): NSCN/GPRN president Akato Chophi in a condolence message described late Hewoto as an embodiment of all the good persona in life- a statesman, leader, outspoken orator – and one who was adored and admired by one and all. “Above all, he was such a selfless leader that when it comes to Society he was always in the frontline with a die-hard attitude, ready to lead and to address people’s grievances,” it stated.
