Nagaland orders closure of schools with immediate effect; HSLC, HSSLC exams to continue
Regular classes for students of classes 9 to 12 will continue, subject to strict adherence to SOP
Dimapur, April 19 (EMN): The government of Nagaland on Monday ordered the closure of all schools in the state, including residential, for students of classes 1 to 8 with immediate effect till further notice.
An update from the chief secretary stated that the move was taken in the wake of steep rise in Covid-19 cases in the country and the urgent need to take precautionary measures to prevent the spread of the second wave in the state.
The order came not even a month after primary schools were reopened. Classroom learning for classes 1 to 5 started on March 22, while it began on February 8 for classes 6 to 12 in the state.
Kindergarten or pre-primary schools will continue to remain closed, according to the order. However, schools can continue “teaching through online mode for all classes and carrying out other activities with strict adherence to Covid-19 appropriate behaviours and other necessary measures, as they were doing before they opened for regular/physical classes”.
However, regular classes for students of classes 9 to 12 will continue “for now”, subject to strict adherence to all the provisions of the SOP issued by the government.
HSLC, HSSLC examinations to continue
Meanwhile, the ongoing High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) and Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) examinations 2021 will continue with strict observance of the SOP issued last month.
The HSLC and HSSLC exams, which began on April 7 and 6 respectively, are scheduled to conclude on Wednesday, April 21.
