DIMAPUR — As the much-awaited Nagaland Olympic and Paralympic Games (NOPG) 2024 officially kicked off on Monday with Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio inaugurating the opening ceremony held at Nagaland Cricket Stadium in Chümoukedima, cricket final was played on day-1 of the state’s biggest sporting event with Niuland winning the gold.

An update from Nagaland Olympic Association (NOA) informed that Chümoukedima won silver and Dimapur bronze. The competition for cricket had started early on February 7 and football on the following day.

Abu Metha, Secretary General of NOA, gave away the prizes to the winners in the presence of members of the Nagaland Cricket Association, Department of Youth Resources and Sports, Nagaland, and members of NOA.

Sokun Singh, Vice President of the Taekwondo Federation of India, who will officiate at the NOPG, were received by state officials at the Dimapur Airport on their arrival.

It may be mentioned that all the 16 districts of the state will compete in 16 sports disciplines across 15 venues and arenas in Dimapur and Chümoukedima districts. The event will conclude on February 17.
