Nagaland: Officials from Himachal visit JICA projects in Mokokchung

Officials from Himachal visit JICA projects in Mokokchung
Officials from Himachal Pradesh forest department along with the Nagaland counterparts during a field trip to Sungratsu village on September 10.

Mokokchung, Sep. 10 (EMN): Senior officers from Himachal Pradesh forest department visited the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) project sites and interacted with the Joint Forest Management Committee (JFMC) and self help groups (SHG) in Mopungchuket and Sungratsu villages under Mokokchung district.

The team was led by the additional principal chief conservator of forests and chief project director of PIHPFEM&L (JICA Funded), Nagesh Kumar Guleri, along with Dr. Sushil Kumar Kapta, additional chief conservator of forest, and Parveen Taak, joint secretary of Forest department under the government of Himachal Pradesh. The team from Nagaland was led by Rongsenlemla, conservator of forests (NTC), Mokokchung.

On September 9, the team held an interaction with the divisional management unit of Mokokchung along with the field management unit and the FNGO team of the Forest department.

Rongsenlemla briefly highlighted the activities of the NFMP project at the circle level and the initiatives undertaken by the divisions under the project, while Dr. Sentitula, divisional forest officer-cum-divisional management unit, made a presentation on the achievements.

Tiarenba, forester-I, presented the GIS and MIS documentation of all the project activities, while Akumtoshi, team leader of FNGO, presented detailed achievements made by the SHGs and the convergence works undertaken for conservation of genetic germplasm in the Forest nurseries.

On September 10, the officials were taken to Mopungchuket project area and held an interaction with the JFMCs. The visiting officials have appreciated the drinking water facility created by the JFMCs in the village.

The officials also visited Sungratsu JFMC, where they witnessed plantation sites under Jhum agro forestry model.
