Dimapur, Sep. 2 (EMN): Nagaland Nursing Council (NNC) informed that anyone passing out from institutions other than recognised and affiliated nursing schools/ institution of the Indian Nursing Council (INC) and State Nursing Council would not be eligible for registration under NNC and also not get employment under the government of Nagaland, private hospitals, and nursing homes.
NNC issued this notification after observing that many private institutions are imparting nursing training without obtaining recognition/ affiliation from INC and NNC.
According to NNC registrar, Dr. Sentinaro Ao, nursing institutes in Nagaland recognised by the INC are School of Nursing, Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (GNM course); School of Nursing, District Hospital, Dimapur (GNM course); School of Nursing, Dr. IMDH Mokokchung (GNM course); ANM School of Nursing, District Hospital, Tuensang (ANM course); School of Nursing, CIHSR Dimapur (GNM course); College of Nursing, CIHSR Dimapur (B.Sc. Nursing and Post Basic B. Sc. Nursing); and Health Nursing School , Singrijan, Dimapur (ANM and GNM).
Dr. Sentinaro also informed that it is mandatory for all the private hospitals, nursing homes, clinics to employ only registered nurses who have undergone nursing courses from INC recognised institutes.
She mentioned that as per Nagaland Nursing Council Act 2019, Chapter III of Section 25, the council is empowered to inspect any hospital, health institution, nursing home, college of nursing or school of nursing to ascertain that the person working therein as a nurse are registered with the council. She cautioned that any person who practices or allows a person to practice as a nurse, LHV, ANM, FHW in contravention of Section 29 of Nagaland Nursing Act, 2019 would be punished with imprisonment which may extend upto two years and liable for fine or both (Section 30 of Nagaland Nursing Act, 2019).
She added that hospitals, school, college, female health worker training school, which has not been approved or recognised under sub-section (1) of Section 24 of the Nagaland Nursing Act, 2019 is prohibited to issue certificates to any person.
Meanwhile, she informed that the council would conduct inspection of all the hospitals, schools, institutions, and nursing homes that are under private management in due course.
