Dimapur, Aug. 27 (EMN): The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) has clarified that the ongoing relief rice distribution across the state was provided under the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) through the agency of NSDMA, targeted for disaster-affected victims of 2018.

“Hence, it should not be confused with the regular relief provided under SDRF sanction by government of India with specific norms,” stated a press release from the NSDMA on Tuesday.

On August 26, villagers under Chuchuyimlang EAC circle in Mokokchung district had refused to accept the 50 kg bag of rice as relief aid.

According to the NSDMA, the circular for collection of relief rice issued by the EAC of Chuchuyimlang was about additional relief, besides normal relief ‘already disbursed/yet to be disbursed’ under SDRF and should not be construed as relief in lieu of SDRF sanction.

“In connection with 2016 cyclonic storm damage, the victims were already provided relief under SDRF norms during 2016-17 by the DDMA Mokokchung and for which the village council of Chuchuyimlang had publicly acknowledged receipt of the said (relief) through local dailies,” it stated.
