Dimapur, July 30 (EMN): Nagaland National People’s Party (NPP) has unanimously resolved to support an early, peaceful and acceptable solution to the long pending Naga political problem, while it called upon both the state and central governments not to stall the peace process by giving undue excuses but to be honest and mature in taking the right step for the benefit of the common people.
The party also reaffirmed its stand on ‘solution before election’ as the very essence of the Naga peace talks would be diluted in the murky waters of elections. It, therefore, called upon all the political parties to take a mature stand on the Naga political issue and not play with the sentiments of the public.
The resolution to this effect was taken during a consultative meeting of the Nagaland NPP parent body with all the district representatives held at its state party office in Dimapur on July 29.
The meeting was attended by officials of the state parent body led by its president, Dr. Andrew Ahoto Sema; senior advisor, Deo Nukhu; and other officials along with the district presidents/ convenors and general secretaries.
In his keynote address, the state president acknowledged the contributions of all the district representatives for working tirelessly and sowing the seeds of NPP in every nook and corner of Nagaland. He called upon the members to remain focused and committed to performance and not just being comfortable in holding party positions.
He exhorted the members to work in unity in order to lead the Nagas forward economically, financially and for all round development of the state.
The organisational report of the party was presented by Philip Lam, state general secretary (organisation) during which he highlighted various activities carried out by NPP Nagaland during the current year.
An update from the party stated that all the district presidents/ convenors and secretaries have shared various activities of party setup in their respective districts at all levels. They also shared about the massive enrolment drive carried out in all the districts. The representatives expressed hope that the party has high chances of securing winnable candidates for the upcoming election.
During the discussion hour, it was unanimously accepted by the members to continue focusing on various issues faced by the common man in Nagaland. It also decided to continue to boost its policy of encouraging the party’s undying motto of ‘One voice, one northeast.’
With the vision and mission in mind, a consensus decision was reached to strengthen the party at grassroots and join hands to work in unity under the leadership of the state president.
It further unanimously decided that any appointments and memberships undertaken before the reorganisation would remain cancelled. In this regard, it was decided that fresh memberships have to be undertaken for new members in all the districts with active consultation and advice of the district executive committees.
