Imphal, June 29 (EMN): The Naga People’s Front (NPF) Manipur state unit in-charge and Nagaland MLA Vikheho Swu-led state unit team called on Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh at the latter’s office secretariat in Imphal on Monday.

NPF Manipur unit president and Forest and Climate change minister Awangbow Newmai, Public health engineering department minister Losii Dikho, NPF MLAs Khashim Vashum (Chingai), K Leishiyo besides former NPF Manipur in charge and MLA Yitachu met the chief minister.

Confirming this, Manipur Forest minister Awangbow when contacted told this correspondent that it was just a courtesy call to congratulate the chief minister for success in the recently concluded Rajya Sabha polls. Later the team left for Nagaland, he added.

In a tweet, Singh also said,”Had a warm visit from Hon’ble MLA & NPF Manipur in-charge Vikheho Swu and Hon’ble MLA Mr.Yitachu, accompanied by NPF leaders of Manipur.”

In the 2017 assembly elections, NPF won four assembly seats-Chingai in Ukhrul district, Mao in Senapati district, Phungyar in Kamjong district and Tamei in Tamenglong district.

Out of them, two MLAs representing Tamei and Mao became ministers in the BJP-led coalition government in Manipur. BJP has five ministers including the chief minister.
