Police arrests four car lifters
DIMAPUR — Personnel from Sub-urban Police Station, with assistance of Pimla village council, arrested four miscreants involved in vehicular theft on May 1. A police report issued by the deputy commissioner of police (crime) informed that three motor bikes including one super splendor, Xpulse 200 bearing registration N0. NL 07EA 7555, Xpulse bearing registration No. NL07 EB 5953 and one Maruti Alto car bearing registration No. AS12P 1424 were recovered from their possession. The arrested persons have been identified as Vito Awomi, Tokato Awomi, Kitoka Awomi and Kughashe Swu from Pimla village. It added that all the arrested persons along with the seized vehicles were brought to the police station and taken into custody after observing all legal formalities.

Phom region of the NSCN (IM) has condoled the demise of its deputy kilonser and member of CFMO, W Hentok Phom from Namha village, who passed away on April 22 at Olive Christian Hospital, Dimapur. It stated that Hentok joined the Naga national service in the year 2006 and served with unwavering spirit until his demise. It has also condoled the demise of joint secretary, P Chingmei Phom, who passed away on January 6. It stated that Chingmei Phom joined Naga national service on February 7, 2005, and gave his best for the cause of Naga nation till his last breath. A press release issued by the kilonser-cum-CAO of Phom region, Chausang Phom, has conveyed condolences to the bereaved family members and prayed for eternal peace of the departed souls.
MGM College holds parting social
MGM College Evangelical Union held a farewell programme for the outgoing 6th semester students on Wednesday with Vepu, Nagaland EGF secretary, as the speaker. Speaking on the occasion, the guest speaker urged the outgoing students to be humble, work hard and fear God in order to achieve success in life. The welcome address was delivered by college’s principal Rev. Fr. Dr. PS Varghese and the farewell address was delivered by Haihangsape, president of MGM College EU. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Luthoki Dozo, secretary of MGMEU.
Nagaland to observe Red Cross Day
The Indian Red Cross Society Nagaland State Branch (IRCSNB) will observe the World Red Cross Day on May 8 on the theme “Everything we do comes #from the Heart.” To commemorate the day, it informed that a fund drive in the form of distributing/ pinning Red Cross tokens would be undertaken by the junior/ youth Red Cross students in Kohima town on May 6. The stated unit general secretary, Akhale V Khamo, has appealed to all the members, patron, vice patron, life members and the public to contribute generously for the cause of humanity.
IGNOU to hold induction programme
The IGNOU SC-2001 at Modern College in Kohima, oppoaite SBI Lerie branch, would hold an induction programme on May 6 at 2 pm in the college auditorium. It has requested all the fresh learners enrolled for January 2023 sessions to attend the induction programme. CALT organises social work
Commemorating Maostsu festival, the Chümoukedima Ao Lanur Telongjem (CALT) conducted social work at the DC Complex on May 3. An update from the organisation stated that around 150 Ao youth of Chümoukedima town took part in the social work. The members have cleared vegetation from the first gate to the DC office and surrounding areas. To youth members have also planted various tree saplings around the DC complex.
Govt. declares Wednesdays as transaction days
The Finance department has declared all working Wednesdays as treasury transaction days. This was made to facilitate timely transaction of payments and receipts. It further stated that the order would come into force with immediate effect.
Army conducts camp for NCC cadets
Indian army conducted a one-day orientation-cum-training camp for the NCC cadets of NCC Group, Kohima, at Zakhama Military Station, to give an insight of the life of a soldier and motivate them to join army. A defence release stated that 75 cadets from St. Joseph College, Japhu Christian College and Loyola Higher Secondary School have attended the camp. It stated that the cadets were shown various military activities including physical training, mountain craft and lectures on opportunities to join Indian army as officers and Agniveer. The cadets got opportunity to interact with gallantry award winners who further motivated them with their real life stories.
