NNC condoles member’s demise
DIMAPUR — The Naga National Council (NNC) has expressed shock at the sudden demise of its vice president, L Kaiso, who passed away on June 22 in Kohima. “He was a dedicated leader who served the Naga Nation in various capacities. Amongst them he held high profile posts of Killo Kilonser (FGN), Kedallo (FGN), Secretary (NNC) and Vice President (NNC) till his last breath. He was also a recipient of ‘Nagaland Star’ for his sacrifices in this long struggle for nation,” stated NNC president Adinno Phizo in a condolence message.
NSCN (K-YA) cadre surrenders
An active cadre of the NSCN (K-YA) surrendered to the Assam Rifles on June 25 in Mon district, Nagaland, a defence release stated. The surrendered cadre active since 2012 was involved in various extortion related activities in the AOR. A total 13 cadres of different factions have surrendered in the general area over the last one year, it stated.
DPK condemns vandalism of ANTA office
The Daklane Panchayat Kohima (DPK), has condemned the June 17 incident in Kohima where armed miscreants vandalised the head office of All Nagaland Taxi Association (ANTA) located in Daklane colony. The miscreants also reportedly threatened an official of ANTA. “Such act is unethical and unacceptable in a civilised society, which also directly affects the business community as well as the peaceful environment of the colony. We strongly condemn their felonious action and extend full support to the ANTA,” the panchayat stated in a condemnation note.
NCC cadets briefed on new recruitment policy
Director, Army Recruiting Office, Rangapahar, Col Kuldeep Singh, visited the ongoing CATC-29 at Sazolie College, Jotsoma, on June 25 and delivered a lecture on the New Recruitment Policy in the Armed Forces. He elaborated on Agniveer Scheme, Military Police (women) and various modes of entry into the Armed Forces as an officer and motivated the NCC cadets to join the uniform forces, an update stated. Seyievito Danny Kin, IT support-cum-data manager in Nagaland Health Protection Society, Kohima, spoke on Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojna (ABPMJAY) and also explained the benefits and procedures to register under Chief Minister Health Insurance Scheme (CMHIS) to the NCC cadets.
