Home department notifies on I-Day attendance
DIMAPUR — The Home Department has made it mandatory for all officers and staff of various departments in Kohima to attend the Independence Day celebration at the Civil Secretariat Plaza on August 15, starting at 9 am. The attendance sheet shall be submitted to the Home Department for further necessary action, a DIPR report stated. Additionally, all deputy commissioners (DCs) have been directed to issue instructions to all officers and staff of different departments under their respective jurisdictions to compulsorily attend the Independence Day celebrations. “The attendance sheet shall be submitted to the deputy commissioner for onward submission to the Home Department for further necessary action,” it added.
Col. Mishra is new SSP principal
DIMAPUR — Colonel (Dr.) Smita Misra, a distinguished officer of the Army Education Corps, took over as the tenth Principal of Sainik School Punglwa (SSP) on Tuesday. Col (Dr.) Misra brings with her experience in leadership and education, making her an ideal fit for the role, the SSP stated in an update. She holds a PhD degree from MDS University, Ajmer. Prior to her appointment at Sainik School Punglwa, Misra held several instructional and staff appointments at various academics and defence formations including, serving as vice principal of Sainik School Kapurthala, Punjab; principal of Sainik School Ghorakhal, Uttarakhand; and chief instructor at AEC Training College & Centre.

Lions Club of Dimapur Elite installed
DIMAPUR — The Lions Club of Dimapur (LCD) Elite was officially installed in a ceremony held in the presence of Lion Lalit Kothari, District Governor (DG) for the year 2025-26. Lion Neena Dutta, First Vice District Governor 2025-26, and Lion Shankar Routh, Second Vice District Governor 2025-26 attended the event, an update stated. The newly chartered club includes 23 members, under the leadership of Charter President Lion Meena Sethi, Charter Secretary Lion Prernaa Maheswarri, and Charter Treasurer Lion Sakchi Jain. “A key highlight of the formation was the launch of a special Women Empowerment Wing, dedicated to advancing the role of women through service and leadership initiatives in the region,” the update stated.
Mass social work held in Jalukie
DIMAPUR — In view of the upcoming Independence Day celebration, a mass social work was carried out across Jalukie town on Tuesday. The initiative was undertaken in all government offices, schools and wards in Jalukie town with the active participation of government officials, teachers, students, and residents, a DIPR report stated. The social work activities included cleaning, clearing drains, removing waste, and general beautification of public areas, office premises and school campuses. The initiative was supported by the closure of all business establishments in the town during the social work hours.
