ESM League expels Kanito, condemns ‘dastardly act’

DIMAPUR — The Ex-Servicemen (ESM) League Nagaland has condemned the crime committed by Kanito from Peren district, describing it as a “dastardly act of unimaginable magnitude.” In their condemnation note, the league stated that Kanito has not only disgraced his clan and family but also brought disrepute to the ex-servicemen community and added that henceforth, his membership with the organisation is terminated for a lifetime. Furthermore, it appealed to the concerned authority to take the strictest action against the culprit, stating that the members of the ESM League Nagaland stand with the victim.

ADC Phek directs dog owners

DIMAPUR — Additional Deputy Commissioner of Phek, Ruopfukuotuo Noudi, has directed all dog owners to ensure vaccination of their pets and to keep them on leash in order to prevent them from straying in public places. The ADC, in an order, stated that this was necessitated as several cases of bites by stray dogs have been reported in Phek town over the past several months, thereby posing a grave health risk for the general public due to a possible rabies infection. The order also informed that any dog found roaming freely in the town shall be seized or shot at sight by the concerned competent authority.

Mental health awareness camp held at Chessore

DIMAPUR — A medical camp on mental health awareness was held at Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) Hostel, Chessore, Shamator district, on May 12. According to a DIPR report, the medical officer of PHC Chessore, Dr. Kumrimong T Yimchunger, highlighted the importance of mental health and ways to tackle it. A series of demonstrations on personal health hygiene habits were conducted and basic first aid kits were also distributed to the hostellers.

PDBA appoints new office bearers

DIMAPUR — The election commission of the Phek District Bar Association (PDBA), in its sitting held on May 11 in Kohima, unanimously appointed a new team of PDBA office-bearers for the tenure of 2024–2027. As per an update from the association, the office bearers include V Ashu Theyo (president), Khemvü Mekru (vice president), Sekhotso Rokha (general secretary), Keneinuo Swüro (secretary), Xepe Thüvery (joint secretary), Sedelo T Vadeo (finance secretary), Thomeweü K Tara (treasurer), Wewotso Koza (information and publicity secretary), Thükütalü Chizo (property secretary), Neiteo Koza (women co-ordinator), Pfükrulhi Khupfü (representative to Nagaland Bar Association), and Wekhrope Marhu (representative to High Court Bar Association). The advisory board members are Povotso Lohe (convenor), Mamang Singson and Vethothi Vero.

ALIMCO appliances distributed in Zunheboto

DIMAPUR — The Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Zunheboto, on Monday distributed various aids and appliances from the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO) to 31 beneficiaries. The appliances included wheel chairs, walking sticks, rolla for size II adults, BTE H Aid along with batteries, sugamya cane, crutch elbow size II, crutch axilla  and cell phone for leprosy patients through the ADIP scheme under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, a DIPR report stated.

NNC (Parent Body) to participate in Plebiscite Day

DIMAPUR — The NNC (Parent Body), under the leadership of Yilow Humtsoe, Zhiongba Yimkhiung, and V Nagi, has extended support to the upcoming May 16 celebration of Naga National Plebiscite Day at the NBCC Convention Hall in Kohima. The event is being organised by the Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR). In an update, it stated that the NNC (Parent Body) looks forward to participating in the event with its members from far and wide, terming it a welcome step by the FNR. It emphasised that all Nagas must participate with gaiety and honour, in full support.

Mokokchung Press Club condoles

DIMAPUR — The Mokokchung Press Club (MPC) expressed sadness and extended its deepest condolences to Akangnungsang Jamir on the passing of his father, Late Temjenyanger, on Monday. In a condolence note, MPC acknowledged that losing a parent is an immense loss, and stated that their thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved family during this period of grief. “May you find solace in the memories you shared and the love that surrounds you,” it read, further stating that the club is available to offer any support or assistance. MPC also prayed for the departed soul to rest in eternal peace.

Medical board exam for govt. employees on May 18

DIMAPUR — The medical board examination for service confirmation for government employees will be held on May 18 at the office of the CMO Dimapur. According to a circular, any government servant who is not confirmed in their post and wishes to sit for the Medical Board should submit their names before the specified date along with a forwarding letter signed by the head of the department.
