DC Phek issues travel advisory


DIMAPUR — Due to ongoing landslides and rockfalls along the Pfutsero-Phek 2 Lane road (Package-III, between Losami and Phek Village), the Deputy Commissioner of Phek has announced a complete traffic restriction from August 9 until further notice. During the restriction period, commuters are advised to take the alternate routes Pfutsero-Porba-Sakraba-Pholami-Khomi-Losami-Losatephe-Lanezho or Zero Point-Chetheba town-Runguzu Nasa-Runguzu-Thuvopisu-Surhoba-Phek town-Lanezho. In a travel advisory, DC Phek, Rhosietho Nguori, also directed the construction company Madhucon Projects Limited to ensure that the road is cleared for vehicular movement at the earliest.


Wokha prepares for Banana Festival


DIMAPUR — A preparatory meeting for the upcoming Banana Festival 2025 was held at the Deputy Commissioner’s conference hall, Wokha, on August 8 under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Vineet Kumar. According to a DIPR report, the meeting brought together officials from the Agriculture department and various allied departments to deliberate on logistical arrangements, work distribution, and execution strategies for the festival. The Banana Festival, scheduled to be held for the first time in Wokha district, is being organised under the One District One Product (ODOP) initiative and aligns with the district’s Banana Vision Document.

Tuensang DPDB meeting held


DIMAPUR — The monthly Tuensang District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) meeting was held on August 7 at the DC’s conference hall under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner and Vice-Chairman of DPDB Tuensang, Lithrongla Tongpi Rutsa. After reviewing the last month meeting minutes, the board took a pledge in commemoration of the 5th anniversary of Nasha Mukti Bharat Abhiyan, a DIPR report stated. A PowerPoint Presentation on department activities was presented by SDO (Forest) and Community Radio Station (CRS), Tuensang. The house also discussed on the work distribution for the coming 79th Independence Day celebration.
