Closure order for Mongleu Bridge
DIMAPUR — Extra Assistant Commissioner of Jalukie, Sizin Renttah, has notified that in view of the ongoing partial repairing of the Mongleu Bridge at the PWD road in Saijang, the bridge will remain closed until further notice. A complete restriction on vehicular movement has been imposed to facilitate the repair work. The notification advised commuters to use the designated diversion located a few metres away from the bridge.
Malaria Day programme scheduled in Longleng
The Deputy Commissioner of Longleng, W Manpai Phom, has informed all members of the District Task Force that World Malaria Day will be observed on April 24 at 11:00 am at the conference hall of the Chief Medical Officer, Longleng. According to a DIPR report, the observance will be held on the theme 'Drive to end malaria: Now we can. Now we must’. The programme will discuss the revision of the status of malaria prevention and control measures in the district and strategise for the effective implementation of the ongoing programme. All committee members have been requested to attend.
Mokokchung schools invited for Pre-Subroto Tournament
The District Youth Resources and Sports Officer of Mokokchung has issued a circular requesting interested schools under the Mokokchung district to upload and register themselves in an online portal for the upcoming 65th edition of the Pre-Subroto Tournament (Football) 2026 for under-17 boys and girls.
DUCCF mourns demise of WSYF treasurer
The Dimapur Urban Council Chairmen Federation has expressed grief over the demise of Ikato A Awomi, Treasurer of the Western Sumi Youth Front. In a condolence message, the federation stated that Awomi had a passion for serving the society and touched many lives even at a young age. The federation added that his compassion, dedication, and commitment will continue to inspire many and that the Sumi community has lost a young leader who gave his time, energy, and heart to everyone.
NNC/FGN to observe Phizo’s death anniversary
The Naga National Council (NNC) and the Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) will commemorate the 36th death anniversary of AZ Phizo, former president of NNC and Father of the Naga nation, on April 30 at 7 am at Phizo Hill in Kohima. The FGN Kilonser of Rali Wali has requested all fellow countrymen to participate in the programme.
Free training on basic baking
Vision for Change will organise a three-day basic baking training programme for free in Dimapur from April 29 in two batches. The training will cover essential baking techniques such as preparation of cakes, cookies, buns and other bakery products. The initiative is part of its effort to promote self-employment and livelihood opportunities in the community. It informed that registration will begin from April 24 to the 28th. NU clarifies errors in eastern Nagaland climate report
Nagaland University has informed that, with reference to a news report titled “Farmers in eastern Nagaland report climate change impacts” published in the February 25 issue of Eastern Mirror on Page 2, an inadvertent error occurred in the description of the field visit locations and one typographical mistake was made. For the line reading “Noksen, Logsing and Moalenden area in Tuensang district”, it should be read as “Longsing village, Noksen block, Tuensang district, and Moalenden area under Mokokchung district". Further, “EVD” may be read as “EVS”.
