DC Kiphire holds coordination meeting for Sitharaman’s visit


DIMAPUR — In view of the proposed visit of Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to Kiphire district, Deputy Commissioner of Kiphire, Temsuwati Longkumer, convened a coordination meeting on Monday at DC’s conference hall. During the meeting, the DC informed the members about the union minister's visit to Kiphire Aspirational District, scheduled on November 13 and the 14th, and shared the latest itineraries for the 48-hour visit, a DIPR report stated. All the concerned departments have been directed to stay prepared with up-to-date data on various schemes and projects being undertaken by the government for the benefits of the public. The DC also reminded all the line departments to stay prepared for presentation/interaction on schemes and projects. Various committees have been constituted to oversee and execute the preparation works during the visit, the report added.


‘Career & tech fair’ in Kohima today


DIMAPUR — The Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE), in collaboration with Alpine Concern, is organising a ‘Career & tech fair’ for students on November 4 at Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Kohima.  In an update, the NBSE informed that this is an initiative to promote career guidance and technological awareness among students of Classes X and XII. The event will provide a platform where students can meet a range of universities, providing an opportunity to communicate freely, discuss study possibilities, clear misconceptions about admission requirements, and obtain information on scholarships and the application procedure. The tech component will have live demonstrations of 3D printing models, drones, plotter machines, robotic arm, battle bat, etc. “This will ignite not only curiosity but also introduce students to 21st century skills, preparing them for a technology-driven future,” the update stated.

WTK condemns murder of Vihozhonu


DIMAPUR — The Watsü Telen Kohima (WTK) has condemned the recent brutal murder of 22-year-old Vihozhonu Zao in Kohima. In a condemnation note, the WTK stated that the heinous crime “has cut short the precious life of a loving daughter, sister, friend and above all a young promising individual.” Affirming that no one has the right to take life, the union stated that the barbaric and tragic incident had caused trauma in the minds of all women, making them question their safety and security in their own land, which they once cherished with pride. “Therefore, we urge the law enforcement agencies to expedite and conduct fair investigation so that justice will be delivered without delay,” the Watsü stated.


Yingli College hosts ‘Yutopia Fest’


DIMAPUR — Yingli College, Longleng, hosted the first edition of ‘Yutopia Fest’ from October 28 to the 31st, a four-day celebration blending the thrill of sports with the vibrancy of culture. The campus came alive with energetic competitions, creative performances, and boundless enthusiasm, a DIPR report stated. The highlight was the talent extravaganza, where students showcased their diverse skills alongside performances by three guest artistes — Anglong Konyak, Manchai Phom and Chingnyi Phom — making it a night to remember. “Yutopia 2025 truly marked the beginning of a new tradition of passion, unity and youthful spirit at Yingli College,” it stated.
