NNPSGSEF and CANSSEA to observe National Protest Day
DIMAPUR — In expressing solidarity with the All India State Government Employees’ Federation (AISGEF) for a nation-wide National Protest Day on September 26, the Nagaland National Pension System Government Service Employees Forum (NNPSGSEF) with the support from Confederation of All Nagaland State Service Employees’ Association (CANSSEA) will observe the same outside the Nagaland Civil Secretariat in Kohima on September 26 from 11 am to 1 pm. It may be mentioned that AISGEF has denounced the unified pension scheme declared by the Union government on August 24. It has demanded for restoration of old pension scheme.
NLA Speaker selected as member of CPA India region executive committee
DIMAPUR — Speaker of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA), Sharingain Longkumer, has been selected as member of the Executive Committee of Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) India region. The selection was made during the 10th Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) India region conference held at the Parliament House in New Delhi on September 23 and 24. The Executive Committee comprises of 6/7 members selected from among the Speakers of all India headed by the Lok Sabha Speaker, stated an update from NLA secretariat. Sharingain Longkumer along with the NLA deputy speaker, S Toiho Yeptho, and Khruohituonuo Rio, secretary-in-charge of NLA, attended the conference.
DC Noklak prohibits unauthorised entry inside public playground
DIMAPUR — The deputy commissioner of Noklak, Arikumba, has issued an order prohibiting unauthorised entry of vehicles inside the Noklak town public playground with immediate effect. The order stated that vehicles are frequently found parked and plying inside the public ground for unauthorised purposes including reckless driving and practice driving. It stated that such activities pose significant risks to users, damage field and facilities and disrupts recreational activities. It stated that only emergency response vehicles, authorised maintenance personnel would be exempted. It further cautioned that any person found violating the order would be liable for appropriate penal/legal action.
ECC observes NSS Day
DIMAPUR — National Social Scheme (NSS) unit of Eastern Christian College (ECC), in collaboration with Blood Centre of District Hospital, Dimapur, observed NSS Day on Tuesday at the college multipurpose hall on the theme “Youth for my Bharat.” The programme was chaired by Genesis Aye, BA 5th semester, while the welcome address was delivered by Bendanggangshi, NSS programme officer. Dr. Dominic K Khanyo, the college principal, exhorted the gathering reflecting on the theme and the role of youth in nation building and Dr. Rongsenmar Longkumer, MO of Blood Centre, spoke on the importance of blood donation and addressed myths surrounding blood donation. A blood donation camp was conducted wherein 36 students along with 4 teachers donated blood in support of the camp.
NSCN (Niki) condoles demise of cadre
DIMAPUR — Niki Sumi-led NSCN/GPRN has condoled the demise of Maj. (Posthumous) Nipaka of Satoi village under Sumi region, who passed away on September 22 in Zunheboto. It stated that he joined the Naga nationalism in 2008 as a young cadre and rose to the rank of Lieutenant at the time of his passing. In recognition of selfless sacrifices made by him, the NSCN/GPRN posthumously promoted him to the rank of Major, it stated. It added that his contributions towards the struggle to ascertain Naga people’s right would be etched in the history of the Nagas. It further conveyed condolence to the bereaved family members.
GPRN/NSCN (U) welcomes new members
DIMAPUR — Following warning issued by United Sangtam Region (USR) of the GPRN/NSCN (U) against any attempt to form a separate region within its jurisdiction, three Naga army personnel from NSCN (Kitovi) have joined the USR GPRN/NSCN on September 23. A press release issued by GPRN/NSCN (U) through its MIP, the three persons, who joined its fold are Lt. Col. Atsase, Major Angukavi and Lieutenant Kaishe. It added that the three officials along with arms were received by Alex Sangtam, RAO of United Sangtam Region, GPRN/NSCN.
Assam Rifles lights up Mon villages
DIMAPUR — Assam Rifles, in collaboration with Sunbird Trust, distributed 50 solar street lights in Longching, Chinglong, and Chingpoi villages of Mon district. According to an update, Assam Rifles, along with a trust representative and an engineer, visited the villages to distribute the lights. The villagers were educated on the installation, maintenance and usage of the lights. The solar lights will benefit over 3,500 residents of those villages, it mentioned.
