ADC Kohima notifies on Agniveer recruitment drive
DIMAPUR — Additional Deputy Commissioner of Kohima, Rhosietho Nguori, has informed the general public of Kohima district about the upcoming Agniveer recruitment drive. The ADC in a notification stated that the drive will be held on September 13 and 14 at Rangapahar Military Station, Dimapur. The drive is exclusively for shortlisted candidates from Nagaland. Candidates who have not yet received their admit cards have been advised to contact the Army Recruiting Office, Rangapahar, through e-mail (swarkokila@nic.in) or mobile number (8974958673) for any queries regarding their participation in the recruitment drive. The notification also cautioned the public to be vigilant against fraudulent activities involving touts and agents.
Changtongya-Longleng road opens to traffic
DIMAPUR — The deputy commissioner of Longleng has lifted the restriction on movement of all types of vehicles on the Changtongya-Longleng road. The DC in a notification however informed drivers to exercise utmost caution while traversing the affected area. They are also urged not to halt, stop or park their vehicles in or around landslide-affected areas to avoid risks to themselves and their co-passengers.
DIPR informs media on Assembly pass
DIMAPUR — The Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) has informed media correspondents and reporters representing local/ regional/ national news dailies and news agencies from print and electronic media including All India Radio (AIR) and Doordarshan Kendra (DDK) to submit their names for coverage of the second session of the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly scheduled to take place from September 11 to the 14th. The names and designation of the media persons along with the media houses they represent and contact information are to be submitted to iprnagaland@gmail.com by September 6.
DC Peren issues advisory
DIMAPUR — In light of the prevailing monsoon and rising water levels in water bodies, Deputy Commissioner and chairman of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Peren, Vineet Kumar, has issued an advisory urging the public to refrain from venturing out to rivers and water bodies during the monsoon season and heavy rainfall.
Career guidance seminar in Zunheboto
DIMAPUR — Deputy Commissioner of Zunheboto, Rahul Bhanudas Mali, has informed the general public of the district that a career guidance seminar will be held on September 14 at 11 am at Town Hall, Zunheboto. This seminar aims to provide employment and skill development opportunities for educated unemployed youths of Zunheboto district, particularly in the fields of aviation, hospitality, cruise lines, and overseas jobs, a DIPR report stated. Registration for the seminar will begin at 10:30 am on the same day.
Mokokchung dist. pensioners informed
DIMAPUR — The Treasury Officer (TO), Mokokchung, has notified all pensioners drawing pension from the Senior Treasury Office, Mokokchung, to submit their life certificates, on or before September 11. The life certificate should be supported by a renewed ‘D’ identity card from the Pensioner Association Office in Mokokchung and Pension Payment Order (PPO) book. “It is essential to note that pension payments will not be released for those who fail to submit the necessary documents by the specified date. This measure is being taken to ensure the update and confirmation of the continued existence of pensioners, in accordance with Central Treasury Rule No. 367 and 360(IV),” the notification stated.
DTE notifies scholarship applicants on biometric authentication
DIMAPUR — The Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) has informed students who have applied for post-matric scholarships and merit-cum-means based scholarship scheme for the session 2022-23 under Ministry of Minority Affairs, through the National Scholarship Portal, that the Ministry has allowed them to authenticate the biometric of students outside their institute, district or state.
Students who wish to authenticate their bio-metric outside their institute, district or state will be given a one-time irreversible opportunity to opt for this facility from September 4 to the 6th (from 11am to 7 pm) in their NSP login, an official update stated.
Students will have to choose the state or district of their choice and upload documents as reflected in the NSP.
Students have been advised to avail this facility carefully as once they choose to authenticate outside the institute, they will not be able to authenticate at the institute.
Interested students have been directed to report on September 7 and the 8th at the conference hall of the Directorate of Technical Education, Kohima, for bio authentication.

NTTU appeals state govt. on Forest Act
DIMAPUR — The Nagaland Timbers Traders Union (NTTU) has appealed to the state government against recommending the Forest (Conservation) Amendment Act 2023 passed by the Rajya Sabha on August 2.
Affirming that all natural resources including forest within Nagaland state belonged to the Naga people, the NTTU in an update stated that the union will approach the court in the event of the state government giving approval on the FAC act.
NTTU said they have been working for more than 30 to 40 years investing their time and resources. The union also pointed out that Article 371A has special provisions with respect to the State of Nagaland in regard ownership and transfer of land and its resources, and that no act passed by Parliament shall apply to the State of Nagaland unless the Legislative Assembly of Nagaland adopts the same.
Urging the NLA not to give assent to the Act, the NTTU affirmed that it would fight for its rights.
Phek police recover dead body
KOHIMA — Phek police recovered the body of a male from a stream, about 2 km from Phek town towards Kutsapo village, on September 3 around 9 pm. Police told Eastern Mirror that the deceased was later identified as Shekhoneyi Rhakho, aged 35 years, son of Razukhuyi Rhakho of Kutsapo village. The Phek Town Youth Society assisted the police in retrieving the body. “The body bore some bruises on the back and injury on the scalp, which led to suspect that the victim might have accidentally slipped off the road and fell into the stream face-up,” a police source said. After completing all legal formalities, the body was handed over to the family members, while a case of unnatural death was registered for further investigation.
