Wokha, Dec. 9 (EMN): Neizo Belho emerged champion in the second edition of Winter Open Airgun Shooting Competition, organised by Airgun Sporting Association of Nagaland (ASAN) here at Wokha on Friday.

Mhaden Ngullie and Ashamo Ezung were placed as first and second runner-ups respectively.

Earlier, DC Wokha, Ajit Kumar Ranjan, inaugurated the shooting competition, which has been incorporated into the Hornbill Festival with state Tourism department supporting the event.

In the inaugural programme held at Likya Community Hall, the DC appreciated the initiative of ASAN and said Wokha district conducts many such sports events, inviting sports enthusiasts from across Nagaland and even outside the.

He also expressed optimism that through the shooting competition, the youths would embrace shooting as a sport and give up the idea of damaging nature and stop killing wildlife.

Ranjan appealed ASAN to spread awareness to the youths to channel their enthusiasm for shooting to sports rather endangering wildlife, so that they can laurels to the state.

President, ASAN, Ajamo Odyuo, highlighted that the main objective of ASAN in organising the annual event is to promote shooting as a sports in all the districts of Nagaland.

 Altogether, 38 individuals including a lone lady shooter are taking part in the competition.
