Nagaland: NDPP announces PDA consensus candidate for Lok Sabha election 2024
DIMAPUR — Amid election fever slowly beginning to grip the country ahead of crucial upcoming general elections, the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) has announced the People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) consensus candidate for the Lok Sabha poll.
The NDPP announced in a press statement on Saturday that its Parliamentary Board had unanimously resolved to award the party ticket to Dr. Chumben Murry for the elections to the lone Parliamentary seat of Nagaland.
The decision was taken at the NDPP Parliamentary Board meeting held at the party’s headquarters in Kohima on Saturday, which was chaired by its Convenor and Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and co-chaired by the party president, Chingwang Konyak.
The NDPP appealed to all the sections of the people and political parties to extend support to the PDA government and the PDA consensus candidate in the forthcoming elections.
The NDPP Parliamentary Board also lauded the incumbent government for taking up a series of initiatives for the growth of that state and appreciated the chief minister for the “visionary” budget that was tabled in the Assembly earlier this week.
While expressing appreciation to all the political parties and leaders who are part of the opposition-less government for their support to the PDA Government led by Rio, the Board also lauded PM Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP President J. P. Nadda for extending support to the state government and maintaining the positive spirit of the Alliance.
Dr. Chumben Murry is a two-time MLA, having won the state assembly election from 38 Wokha Assembly Constituency in 2008 on Congress ticket and in 2018 on NPF ticket. He joined the NDPP along with 20 other NPF legislators in 2022 and became the Advisor for Law and Justice.
He, however, opted out of the state Assembly election in 2023.
