Nagaland: NBSE notifies rules relating to students with disabilities
Dimapur, Jan. 13 (EMN): In line with the vision of National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and RPWD Act, 2016 for equitable and inclusive education, the Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) has notified revised rules relating to students with disabilities.
NBSE, in collaboration with Changeinkk Foundation, launched an SLD (Specific Learning Disabilities) chatbot on NBSE’s portal on December 3, 2022, stated a DIPR report. NEP 2020 envisages equitable and inclusive education-learning for all.
The Rights of Persons with Disabilities (RPWD) Act, 2016, defines inclusive education as a “system of education wherein students with and without disabilities learn together and the system of teaching and learning is suitably adapted to meet the learning needs of different types of students with disabilities.”
Meanwhile to create further awareness, NBSE along with Changeinkk Foundation is organising has planned to organise a webinar for all heads of institutions to learn strategies on how they could improve their institution’s learning outcomes by enabling inclusive classrooms that allow students with learning disabilities to thrive.
All the heads of registered institutions are directed to note the date and time of the webinar and attend the webinar without fail.
It informed that the webinar for Dimapur, Chümoukedima, Niuland, Wokha, Mokokchung, Longleng and Peren would be conducted on January 23 from 11 am to 1 pm. The same programme for Kohima, Tseminyu, Phek, Kiphire, Tuensang, Mon, Zunheboto, Shamator, Noklak districts would be held on January 24 from 11 am to 1 pm.
