Kohima, May 7 (EMN): A group of young people staged an emotional theatrical performance in State Academy Hall, Kohima on the eve of Mother’s Day, leaving the audience in tears.
The one-hour show revolved around a mother's unconditional love for her only son, who is a drug addict. It took a tragic turn after her son died of cardiac arrest, leaving the parents heartbroken.
‘In this world, there is nothing sweeter than a mother's love. Nothing is greater than a Mother's love. A lot of people do not realise their mother’s love while breathing...It is in the hands of God whether our mother will live long or not. Be it long or short, celebrate mother’s day every day with them,' read the epilogue of the show titled “A Mother's Love”.
The play was initiated by the 'Tribal Acts' comprising four members -- Kusa Lohe, Sezolü Rhakho, Tokugha Sheqi, and Vepfütolü Atu Medeo.

Director of the show, Kusa Lohe said that their sheer passion for theatrical performance brought them together and “A Mother's Love” was their first venture.
'We did not have enough time to practice. It took us at least six hours of practice on weekdays for about one month for the performances,' he said. ‘It may not be a big crowd today (Saturday) but we are not discouraged by that because every venture starts with struggle and our intention is to entertain and to educate,’ he added.
Atu Medeo said that the members shared the same interest though from different backgrounds. They embarked on their venture with zero budget as most of them are students.

Senior Pastor, Chakhesang Baptist Church Minister's Hill Kohima, Rev. Dr. Vevo Phesao, said that motherhood is a gift from God. They say, God cannot be everywhere, so He made mothers, he added.
He said that staging the play on the eve of Mother's Day was apt and meaningful. 'Feel the heart of our mothers, feel her voice and advices, and this is going to be a very profound time, if not a very emotional time,' he added.
He also lauded the team for their creativity and innovative idea, while assuring his moral support.
