Dimapur, Sep. 2 (EMN): A three-day training for mathematics teachers on Teaching Learning Material (TLM) Resource Book for class 6, 7 and 8 was held at GHSS Auditorium, Wokha from August 28 to the 30th.
It was held with an aim to make mathematics joyful and interesting; to have a repository of mathematical knowledge; to be able to spread the skills of the subject; to leverage mathematical education at upper primary; and to inculcate interest among students and mathematic teachers, informed an update from Abenthung Kikon.
R Nzanbeni Lotha, Sr. SDEO and the DEO in-charge Wokha, presented the keynote address at the inaugural function. She told the participants that “Mathematics is the foundation of all scientific discoveries and it is in the hands of the Mathematics teachers to educate the students in achieving this prospective.”
The observer for the three-day training programme, Thungchibemo Lotha, reader, Head Mathematic Cell, SCERT Kohima, urged the participants to be sincere and dedicated in implementing the programme.
At the valedictory function, special guest Vanthungo Kikon Sr. Principal, GHSS Wokha called upon the participants to first know “where they are and then to know where the students are. Secondly, as a teacher, you should teach the way you know; and then if they cannot (understand), teach them the way the students could understand.”
The resource persons of the training programme were W Renpomo Tsopoe, Co-ordinator Mathematics Learning & Enhancement Programme Nagaland (MLEPN); Y Thungdemo Humtsoe, ToT & member MLEPN; and Lucy Tsopoe, Member MLEPN.
Altogether, 33 participants from GHSS, GHS and GMS attended the programme.
