Nagaland: Marcofed chairman visits VDVK Haat in Jalukie
Dimapur, Feb. 25 (EMN): Marcofed chairman, Dr. M Chuba Ao, visited Van Dhan Vikas Kendra (VDVK) Haat, an implementing agency of TRIFED under the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, government of India, in convergence with MSME, in Jalukie town on February 22.
He visited the institute during a month-long training on Van Dhan Yojana- entrepreneurship and skill development programme (PMVDY-ESDP), organised by Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE), Guwahati, under the ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, government of India. The training was organised to impart all kinds of local minor forest products into value-added and exotic products which are locally available.
An update from VDVK media cell stated that the training included baking skills, food processing, marketing, and bamboo craft.
Speaking during his visit, Dr. Chuba advised the participants not to knock at government offices for a job but to be a job giver. He also encouraged the Van dhan members to produce as per the demand of the market.
He further urged those people, who are experts in weaving, wood carving and bamboo craft and are not members of van dhan, to join the VDVK and make their products more valuable and marketable by streamlining their products to proper channels.
