Kohima, Aug. 12 (EMN): Little Flower Higher Secondary School in Kohima observed the Pre-Independence Day celebration with pomp and gaiety in the school premises on Friday.

As this year marks the 75th year of India’s Independence, the event was consolidated as part of the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.

Hoisting the national flag as the chief guest, Colonel Umesh Chandra Sati, Commandant of 1 Assam Rifles, has described the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign as “unique and novel.” He called upon the public to remember the sacrifices made by freedom fighters “because of whom we can walk freely today.”

Reminding all to realise one’s responsibilities towards the country as responsible citizens, he stated that respect and care for each other was a must.

He further encouraged the students to keep doing well in life as they are the “future pillars of society.”

Besides singing of the national anthem, patriotic songs, and dances, march past displayed by four contingents by Bharat Guides and NCC cadets marked the celebration.

The event, organised by the Bharat Guides and NCC Unit of the school, kick-started with a word of welcome by the school’s principal, Sister Lucy Gangmei.

The event culminated with a rally by the Bharat Guides and NCC Cadets of the school.
