Nagaland legislator refutes Congress’ ‘propaganda’
MOKOKCHUNG — Taking exception to the Congress party’s assertion that the 60 Nagaland legislators are subservient to the BJP, MLA TN Mannen on Friday termed the claim ‘immature’ and ‘absolutely false’.
Speaking during the election campaign tour of the 23 Impur Assembly Constituency, the legislator said the People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) consensus candidate for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, Dr. Chumben Murry is supported by a coalition of 60 MLAs, representing nine political parties under the PDA.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is just one component of the PDA, he added.
“The claim that NDPP (Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party) is bowing down under BJP or washing its feet- these are all propaganda,” said Mannen, who is also the advisor for Law and Justice and Land Revenue.
During the tour, Mannen also highlighted local issues such as the development of Yimchalu, purportedly one of the youngest villages in the 23 Impur AC, and expressed hope for imminent progress.
Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has declared a pledge to reward the 60 MLAs based on the performance of their respective constituencies in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, he said, adding that development initiatives will be prioritised according to the best-performing areas.
Star Campaigner Aolepden, vice President of NDPP Central; Meyisanger Lemtur, vice president of Youth Organisation NDPP Central; and Bendang Walling, president of Youth Organisation NDPP Mokokchung Region, also addressed the gathering during the campaign.
