Dimapur, Oct. 8 (EMN):
Lungwiram village, located at Full Nagarjan area in Dimapur, has set an example for others to emulate on matters relating to transparency and accountability.

This was stated by NPF legislator from 2 Dimapur-II assembly constituency, Moatoshi Longkumer, while inaugurating the re-enforced concrete cement (RCC) road at Lungwiram village on October 8. The road was constructed with financial assistance from the legislator.

Impressed with the brief report on the road construction replete with complete transparency, Longkumer was of the view that Nagaland would experience immediate change only when all the leaders maintain such transparency. To bring about such change, Longkumer cited an example of MGNREGA scheme, which only when implemented with transparency and accountability could empower the rural populace.

The MLA appealed to all to maintain transparency so that it would benefit not only the community but also the society as a whole.

On the matter regarding recognition of Lungwiram village, Longkumer assured to pursue the matter at the assembly level.

Presenting a brief report on the road construction, the village secretary, N Wizabo, informed that the levelling work started from September 7 and the actual work started from September 15 to the 19th, covering a length of 1030 running feet and 15 feet in width.

Delivering welcome address earlier during the programme, village chairman Ringsanbo Zeliang thanked the MLA for his special concern towards the village. He also thanked him for introducing various schemes particularly for empowerment of women through formation of self help group (SHG) and entrepreneurship for educated unemployed youth which has benefitted the village.
