Nagaland Legislative Assembly monsoon session resumes today

Kohima, Aug. 4 (EMN): Several reports and Bills will be tabled on the floor of the House when the 8th session of the 13th Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) resumes today after a recess on Wednesday.
The two-day NLA monsoon session, which began on Tuesday, August 3, will conclude on Thursday.
The day-2 of the session is scheduled to start at 9:30 am with a round of questions and answers.
The minister of Health and Family Welfare, S Pangnyu Phom will make a statement under Rule 55 pertaining to Covid-19 pandemic on the floor of the House.
Deputy Chief Minister, Y Patton, who is minister for Home and Roads and Bridges, is expected to lay a copy of the Report of the Commission on RIIN on the table, in fulfilment of the assurance given on the floor of the House on Tuesday in reply to supplementary starred question posed by MLA Kuzholuzo Nienu regarding the status of RIIN.
K Tokugha Sukhalu, Advisor of School Education and chairman of the Public Accounts Committee, will present a copy of the 125th Report of the Committee on Public Accounts (2021-2022) on the Examination of the Report of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India for the year 2016-2017 on the State Finances Audit Report and Audit Reports on the Social, Economic, Revenue, and the General sectors.
Chairman of the Committee on Subordinate Legislation, Chotisuh Sazo will present a copy each of the following reports:
- The Sixty-Sixth Report on the Nagaland Shops and Establishment Rules, 2015.
- The Sixty-Seventh Report on the Action Taken by the government on the 55th Report on the Nagaland Labour Service Rules, 2014.
- The Sixty-Eighth Report on the Nagaland Rights of Persons with Disabilities Rules, 2019.
- The Sixty-Ninth Report on the Action Taken by the government on the 62nd Report on the Nagaland Agricultural Produce Marketing (General) Rules, 2006.
- The Seventieth Report on the Action Taken by the government on the 42nd Report on the Nagaland Police Service Rules, 2006.
Y Vikheho Swu, Chairman of the Committee on Government Assurances, will present a copy each of the following reports:
- The Ninety Eighth Report on the Assurances given by the government during the 2nd session of the 13th Nagaland Legislative Assembly.
- The Ninety Ninth Report on the Assurances given by the government during the first session of the 13th Nagaland Legislative Assembly.
According to PJ Antony, Commissioner and Secretary of NLA, Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio will move the following Bills to be passed by the House:
- The Nagaland Professions, Trades, Callings and Employment Taxation (Fifth Amendment) Bill, 2020 be taken into consideration.
- The Nagaland Lokayukta (Amendment) No. 2 Bill, 2021 be taken into consideration.
The chief minister will then present a copy of the Report of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India on General, Economic and Revenue Sectors for the year ended 31 March 2019.
Neiba Kronu, Minister of Planning and Co-ordination, Parliamentary Affairs and Land Revenue, will initiate discussion on matters of urgent public importance pertaining to “Post Covid-19 Economic Recovery”, while legislator Imkong L Imchen will initiate discussion on matters of urgent public importance pertaining to “Nagaland-Assam border”.
NLA Speaker Sharingain Longkumer will then announce the Revised Composition of the various Financial and Non Financial Committees for 2021-2022 before the House is adjourned sine die.
