KOHIMA — Nagaland on Monday formally launched the Intensified Mission Indradhanush (IMI) 5.0 to immunise children from 0 to 5 years and pregnant mothers who have been left out of routine immunisation efforts.

Speaking during the launching programme at the urban primary health centre, Seikhazou, the principal director of Health and Family Welfare, Dr. Vibeituonuo M Sechu, said that all children from 0 to 5 years and pregnant mothers will be immunised as part of it, and it will make sure that no child or pregnant mother is left out or is only half immunised.

She appealed to all the organisations, communities, and line departments to make an effort, to spread awareness, and advocate for timely vaccination of children and pregnant mothers.

She further informed that the immunisation will be held in three phases: the first phase will be held from August 7 to 12, the second phase from September 11 to 16, and the third phase from October 9 to 14.

On the occasion, the state immunisation officer, Department of Health and Family Welfare (DoH&FW), Dr. Imkongtemsu Longchar, said that the IMI 5.0 aims at vaccinating children and pregnant mothers who missed doses or have partially been vaccinated. She said the vaccination programme will help prevent many diseases and improve the overall health of both the mother and child.

Registration for the beneficiaries is conducted through the U-WIN portal, and all districts in India, including the districts of Nagaland, simultaneously launched IMI 5.0 on Monday, he added.

Earlier, the DoH&FW informed that under the immunisation programme, 178 pregnant women and 1,922 children from 0 to 5 years across Nagaland will be covered. The target for age-wise children is 1,159 for 0 to 2 years and 763 for the age group of 2 to 5 years. A total of 209 sessions will be conducted in 12 districts across the state. (see table below)
