Dimapur, Oct. 20 (EMN): Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Nagaland University in Lumami, organised a Krishi Samman Samelan on October 17 in its conference hall.
The objective of the programme was to create awareness on the central sponsored programmes to enable farmers avail those schemes, an update from KVK stated.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=6]The programme began with the welcome address delivered by the principal scientist and head of KVK, Dr. Rakesh Kumar Chaurasia, followed by brief introduction of the programme by Dr. Kundan Kumar, SMS (Agri. extension).
During the programme, farmers were made to witness live streaming on Agri-startup conclave and kisan sammelan, which was inaugurated by the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi at mela ground of ICAR-IARI.
It stated that the Prime Minister inaugurated 600 Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samruddhi Kendra, which would cater to a wide variety of needs of the farmers and provide agri-inputs, testing facilities for soil, seeds, fertilisers and generate awareness among farmers. The Prime Minister also inaugurated Bharatiya Jan Urvarak Pariyojna “One nation one fertilizer,” which would help companies market fertilisers under single brand name Bharat.
Prime Minister also released the 12th installment amounting to INR 16000 crore under Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi through DBT.
The vote of thanks was pronounced by Dr. Visakho Shunyu, chief technical officer (Agronomy/ GPB).
At the end of the programme, 44 farmers from three villages were provided with vegetable seeds to enable them grow different vegetables in their backyard for home consumption.
In a related programme, KVK Mon, has organised a PM Kissan Samelan in its office premises on October 17.
The inaugural programme was chaired by Zhiete, ACTO (soil science), wherein he explained on the objective of the programme and how the farmers have benefitted from the scheme.
Special guests of programme namely H Ponge Konyak, Manlang Konyak and Nyangphong Konyak have appreciated the hard work put in by the farmers and further encouraged them to improve their economic condition by applying improved technology, use of high yielding crops.
The inaugural programme was followed by viewing of live telecast of Prime Minister on PM Kissan Samman Samelan.
The programme was attended by 69 farmers, KV staff and other officials.
