DIMAPUR — National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP) under the office of the chief medical officer (CMO), Kiphire, has begun observing anti-malaria month in various villages.
An update from CMO office mentioned that June is observed as anti-malaria month every year. It added that the risk of malaria is high during monsoon and post-monsoon phases.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=1]The district vector borne disease officer of Kiphire, Dr. Martha, informed that the Medical department would carry out activities during the month to create public awareness and promote methods like waste management in the immediate surroundings as well as prevention of water stagnation.
A surveillance worker from malaria section, Tepenchu Sangtam, also informed that awareness campaign including mass screening (collection of slide, performing RDT) was carried out and provided first aid in the villages. The anti-malaria activities would continue till the end of this month.
