DIMAPUR — The Janata Dal-United (JDU) Nagaland unit has raised concerns over the failure of courier companies in delivering door-to-door services to customers in the state despite charging for home delivery.

In a press release on Friday, the Nagaland JDU pointed out that almost all courier companies, whether private or public sector, impose charges for their services, covering all transportation costs for home deliveries.

However, courier companies operating in Nagaland are not delivering items to the customers’ doorsteps and are instead, calling customers to personally retrieve letters or parcels from the courier offices, leading to inconvenience for consumers, it said.

The Nagaland JDU stated that courier services agents in Nagaland are “taking advantage of the ignorance of the consumers who, ignorant of their rights, spent hours of their precious time to go the courier agent’s office to collect their ordered products.”

The party unit cautioned the courier companies, especially those in the interior areas, to immediately desist from such unscrupulous activities

“The JDU shall expose such courier agencies and initiate legal action against such erring courier companies,” it said, while calling on consumers to approach the JDU public grievances auditory for any issues relating to denial of services by courier agencies.
